At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.28% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Credit Corp Group Ltd (ASX:CCP), which rose 4.11% or 1.020 points to trade at 25.820 at the close. Meanwhile, Orica Ltd (ASX:ORI) added 3.37% or 0.690 points to end at 21.190 and Newcrest Mining Ltd (ASX:NCM) was up 3.05% or 1.040 points to 35.120 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bingo Industries Ltd (ASX:BIN), which fell 3.83% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.510 at the close. Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC) declined 3.76% or 1.250 points to end at 32.000 and Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX:GXY) was down 3.36% or 0.045 points to 1.295.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 635 to 568 and 388 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.01% to 11.579.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.34% or 4.90 to $1425.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $57.24 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.40 to trade at $64.02 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.03% to 0.6899, while AUD/JPY fell 0.19% to 74.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.907.
