Does anyone understand how the depreciation factor comes into play on the value of DGAZ and UGAZ.  For example when the price of natural gas is more volatile does it result in the depreciation factor to accelerate?

Let me give you a simple example. Lets say Dgaz is 50$. Ng went up 10% which means dgaz is down 30%, so dgaz is 35. Next day NG goes down 10%, so Dgaz should go up 30% of 35. Now dgaz is 45.5$. So you have 4.5$ in decay with that wild move.

Reverse spit did nothing but consolidate many shares into fewer shares.  So 20 shares were consolidated down to 1 share.  The value of both remained the same at the time of the spit.  Makes no difference in value of the stock you had at the time of the split.
