Good morning all. Does anybody know why there is a big gap around 03:30 this morning? I've read a few times that this could be ab indication of positions changing from one to the other ie. from short to long or from long to short. Any idea?

Ramaphosa just gave kept on sidestepping the question on prescribed assets much like Zuma used to do without answering yes or no (uncharacteristically of Ramaphosa). Watching the video makes me very very uneasy cause it means that goverment can force pension funds to invest peoples pension into ESKOM, SAA etc...

If the chart reveals more up movement above 15.30 I'll take profit at 15.40 and short some more aggressively. If it moves lower I'll have to cut my losses and get out before these Longs burn me..

Not so sure about 15.30, breaking 15.25 and 15.26 will need more momentum. It does look to me as if it is running out of steam from the low this morning. Not much upside from here for me. But thats just my view.

Jaco Berg Yup, Thats the one.. I think the initial spike will be worse but still think it might only settle at around R15.30 to maybe R15.50.. in 2016 I thought it would run to R18 but not so sure anymore.. People want interest and in Risky investments SA is not the worst.. But, alas, I hope you are correct cause that will help my bank balance a bit...

Martin De Beer The same article also mentions. "A downgrade by the ratings agency seems likely, but SA’s financial markets could be limited by attractive 10-year bond yields, among other things". So I think you are correct. It could have a mixed impact, first spike and later be more attractive again.
